Coming Up

After next week’s set of meets I’ll post the first state projections based on seasonal rating. This is a simulation of the state series if it were run at this point in time. A lot can change between now and November but I do this to give everyone an idea of where they stand roughly midway through the season.

First to the Finish (Peoria Woodruff) vs. Richard Spring Ratings

I wanted to take a second to clarify the difference in the ratings between the two Peoria meets from the past couple weeks.  The first thing to remember with ratings is, I am not rating the course but the actual races themselves.  You could have a completely different rating on the same course from week to week depending on the race quality or conditions.

On the boys side the ratings between the two meets were pretty comparable with only about a 3 second or one point difference in the ratings.  The girls races were a different story based on the graphs of both races (see below), I found that Richard Spring was about 15 seconds faster than First to the Finish overall. This is why for example a 18:08 at Richard Spring was a rating of 108 vs 18:08 at First to the Finish was 113 (3 seconds = 1 point).

  1. I’m a New Lenox Illinois resident now, but originally fun Peoria – it was fun to come across this post and bring back memories of Peoria school sports! The graph was a fun thing to review also 🙂
