Welcome to the new re-designed IL XC Speed Ratings

Happy 2024 cross country season and welcome to the newly redesigned IL XC Speed Ratings.  My hope with the redesign is that the site will be easier to navigate and more user friendly on mobile devices.  Bare with me for a couple days the domain name will be back to normal shortly.
I plan on incorporating some new features and ideas this year to enhance the ratings that I have provided in the past.  The first is this blog where I will be putting up announcements when different things are posted.  I will try to provide a more in-depth analysis and explanation of how the ratings were calculated for specific meets.
I will still be rating as many meets as time allows, along with updated performance lists, leaderboards and team rankings that I have done in the past.  This year I am also adding a team average leaderboard to add a new twist and different way to look at the ratings.  I will also have some new features and analyses for the state series so stay tuned.
I have a new page under the information tab called “Historical Perspective.”  This page gives you a historical view with ratings from the past.  This is a 5-year average of the speed ratings that have been calculated (2020 excluded).  It will show, on average, what the team average is of a state championship team, top 5, top 10 and state qualifying team for each of the classes.  It will also show what it has taken in the past, on average, to be the individual state champion and what it takes to be all state.
With all of that stated, pre-season rankings are now posted.  Please remember that these are based solely on returners from last year and do not consider any newcomers or transfers which I am not aware of.
As always I welcome any feedback or questions you might have regarding the site
Hope to see you all on a cross country course really soon.  Good Luck this season!
